I-Shot-TCC
The long-gun bag of i-SHOT, Virginia, which I got recently in the USA for my AR15, is called Tactical Carbine Case, or simply TCC. The TCC are available in the lengths of 30” (76cm), 36"(91cm), 42" (106cm), 46"(117cm) and so far as I know in 50”(127cm). The colours can be selected between black, od-green and tan. As a further colour there is a grey clay/tone may be coming soon.
The bag comes with a padded shoulder strap, a triple molle-mag-pouch including the PALS connecters and 4 individual Velcro-straps to attach the weapon and equipment inside the bag.
I bought a bag in 36” length for my M5. That is what we call here a AR15 mid-length carbine with a german-legal 16,75” barrel. The bag is made off Cordura 1000. The work seams good and exhibit no errors. The carrying handle is circulating around the whole bag, likewise very stably finished and the handle does not cut in your hands. Not even with a fully loaded bag. The shoulder strap is from the same material as the carrying handle. The Metal hooks and rings are firmly and durable. The shoulder pad is sufficiently padded and cause of the Velcro-system it can be fastened everywhere to the strap.
The main compartment is 36” long and 12” wide. In it are 6 rows with 18 Molle loops each. Each particular of these loops is provided at the downside with female-velcor. With the provided gun-straps with the male-velcro, the weapon can be tied down firmly in the main compartment. In the area not occupied by the weapon you can attach a bipod, a scope-case, Molle-pouches or what ever after your own needs.
The weapon is all around protected during the transport. Not only at the sides, but by the circulating padding underneath the zippers. The zippers are very rough, but run perfectly.
With 31”x10.5” the external compartment is somewhat smaller dimensioned. Here you will find 80 Molle-loops (5x16) either for further Molle bags or for equipment, weapons and/or weapon parts to be fastened.
I preferred the TCC to other products for the following reasons.
The bag was somewhat more discreet in style and colour. Cases that cry "WEAPON" are not very attractive to me. So you don’t stick out that much when you hook up in a dinner with some friends after training for a beer. I really don’t like to leave my toys in the trunk. Or if you have to use public transportations to the range without directly all passengers know what you carry in your bag.
The Cordura. To me it does not only seam to be very strong, but also the typical cheaply looking gloss is void. With about 6 pounds the bag is not very light. That is however because of the strong padding and the extremely firm nylon. I find the weight appropriate.
The padding. The bag is everywhere strongly padded and the three "basic walls" are strengthened with a plastic plates. Therefore it does not fall together even when it is just lightly loaded or empty. It always stays firm when you handle it.
The Molle-loops. Often the interior bags of the cases do not agree with the need of the users. With the Molle-system I can equip it the way I like and need it.
The gunstraps. With the Molle-system in connection with the Velcro and the gunstraps I can tie down my weapon and/or equipment individually in both compartments. With that system I can securely tie down any weapon, of any length, with any kind of stock or handguard as long as it fits the case. Lengthwise or diagonally. No matter.
As negative aspect actually only the price was noticeable to me. $140, - in the USA or in Europe 165, - euro. Not really El-Cheapo. But if I consider the value you get for it and the cost of the Blaster it will hold…
The company of i-SHOT (the line for sportshooters) /S.E.R.T. (equipment for Mil./LE) a small family business, is led by the former member of the singaporean reconnaissance troops and the IPSC/IDPA shooter Helmie Ashiblie. Everything began with the Rangebags and expands now in nearly every kind of shooting equipment and even training. The TCC is so popular that it not only adopted by the US Department of Energy-SWAT and the USMC Force Recons, but also by a German State-HRT.
For Europe there will be in the future there own equipment line. Made after european requirements and standards. Further an IPSC backpack is available soon from I-Shot. In price and functionality it could be quiet interesting. We will see.
My interest was also drawn by the CCC.
In the CCC – Compact Carbine Case, designed by militarymorron.com you can transport your longgun in divided compartments still discretely and for stowing away in small places.
You can take a look at the whole program at http://www.ishotinc.com.
For Europe, Africa and the Middle East the selling runs over Mr. Roters from Germany. @: Office.TDR@gmx.net
At the end of the season I will come back and let you know how it performed over the year.
I hope you like my Review on the HK Ally.
