AmeriGlo
Glock sights
Actually my intention was to start with my review about the Ameriglo Glock sights a lot earlier. But as I had the sights on my Glock17 I had to find out that I had a crack in the slide by the ejection-port.
But after 10 years of service and approximately 100.000 rounds I did not turned mad. But it took a while to send my slide back to Austria and to get the new slide back here. All free of charge, off course. That’s Glock.
I never had a use for the original Glock-Sights. It work ok at CQB-Distance but I never liked it. Very soon I ripped off the original sights and put a tritium night sight on it. Now, after ten years, they don’t glow anymore. So I decided to get me a new set of sights. I wanted something without any dots and bars
So the sights of AmeriGlo caught my eye. Normally AmeriGlo is known for tritium night sights. But they also do plain sights for pistols. Beside this they make sights with photo luminescent material for indoor ranges.
Since I just use my Glock for range work only, I wanted plain black sights. That was not that easy since AmeriGlo has a very large catalog of different sights. You can even call them and have a set mixed with your specifications.
I picked a combination of target and combat sights. As rear sight I took the GL400 Target-Rear-Sight with a .150” notch and as a front sight a GCF-115 Combat-Front-Sight. The standard is that the Target-Set will have a .090” front- and a .150” rear-sight. The Combat-sights have a .115” front- and a .200” rear-sight. The advantage I see in this combination is, that you can pick up your target faster then with the target-sights and you can shoot more accurate as with the combat-sights. So you have a mix of both worlds.
The sights from AmeriGlo are all made on CNC-machines. The rear-sight is totally plain and has a black coating. The front sight is serrated and it will catch up the light very good. The sights are very clear anyway. No lumps and bumps. Fast shooting and fast target transition was easy. Also precision shooting out to 30yards was no problem at all.
Beside the front sight you will get a tool to mount it properly to your slide.
For the rear sight you should use a Glock-Tool to mount it. After taking the rear sight on/off twice the finish on the sides of the sight was a little worn off.
For $45, - I would buy them again. It’s a fair price in my opinion.
I hope you like my Review on the Ameriglo Glock sight.
